Lac Ichkeul National Park is one of very few UNESCO listed wetlands sites and is home to over 180 aquatic birds, 20 reptiles and water buffalo. In the winter the park is an important bird sanctuary. Lake Ichkeul and the surrounding marsh area becomes home to than 200,000 migratory species from all over Europe.
